The general public is greatly unaware of the multiple documents, incidents and personages that have become generally known as Unidentified Flying Objects (flying saucer). Irena McCammon Scott, PhD, is contributing her behind-the-scenes knowledge and past experiences of Top Secret files to add further facts and opinions on the topic.

Dr. Irena Scott has worked for the Dense Intelligence Agency and the Aerospace Center in satellite photography, and was a volunteer astronomer at the Ohio State University Radio Observatory. She worked for the Battelle Memorial Institute, and has held above top-secret security clearance at the U.S Department of Dense in Washington, D.C. Scott has held distinguished positions at Cornell University, University of Nevada, St. Bonaventure University, and the Ohio State University College of Medicine.

“This also goes into a psychosocial study of why this highly significant statistical finding of the massive SR-14 was ignored and even lied about,” says Scott. “It also details the lying behind the Robertson Panel and gives an inside view of the interactions associated with this and the Pentacle Memo.” (p. 256)

Scott takes us on an excursion of many known and little known facilities on the Wright-Patterson AFB (WPAFB) and their connection to the UFO Mystery.

.

VENTURES AND VAULTS AT WP

.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton Ohio (abbreviated here as WP), is not the only military or government operation that has entertained or housed UFO secrets. Most people are aware of the highly publicized and infamous Area 51 in Nevada (in Russia, it is SVRRE-YASENEVE; in India, it is THE RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS WING, New Delhi, as well as other nations), but WP has a history concerning UFOs apparently going back to 1947 with an alleged crashed disc at Roswell, New Mexico; the so-called “crash” occurred after only a few days after the Kenneth Arnold’s UFO sighting on June 24, 1947 near Mount Reiner, Washington. It was the Roswell Army Air Field that investigated and recovered the “debris” which, because of its highly controversial nature, was transported to special facilities at Wright-Patterson AFB, including a quick stop at Fort Worth, Texas.

.

Wright Patterson Air Force Base Aerial View

Scott discovered the original radio broadcast in the Roswell Museum archives detailing the trek of the fragments. Radio announcer Joe Wilson said he had spoken to officials at the Wright Field (WF, later WP) and “they were expecting a delivery” at the Wright Field, Ohio. Brigadier General Roger Ramey mentioned the Army Air Force Research Center at Wright Field. “Wilson noted that Colonel William Blanchard refused to give details of what the disc (the Roswell UFO…SE) looked like.” (p. 18)

Scott takes the reader on a tour of the Air Base and examines, speculates about controversial sites and people.

Ufologist Earl Grey Anderson told that his mother had worked at an “underground city” intertwined by cafes, golf carts, movie theaters and a “very deep elevator” at a place somewhere in the desert near Area 51. There was mention of Wernher von Braun, Hermann Oberth, and Howard Hughes.

Co-investigators Bill Jones and Irena Scott had a suspicion that underground vaults or complexes existed beneath WP (and other facilities). Other investigators also shared such suspicions; one such person was Robert M. Collins, author of EXEMPT FROM DISCLOSURE and TV interviewee on UFO COVER-UP LIVE! Collins also speculates about WP facilities and underground vaults. The proverbial “Hanger 18,” where alien bodies were alleged to have been housed, said Collins, was actually Buildings 18-A, B, and C through G.

Researcher Tomas Carey and Donald Schmitt likewise wrote about the location of vaults at WP in their book INSIDE THE REAL AREA 51 and speculated that Building 18 was actually eight buildings, 18-18G that comprised the Power Plant Laboratory Complex (p. 22).

.

WhenUFOsCrash Book Cover 51oQk3tw58L._AC_UL320_SR214,320_

.

Scott and Jones, who actually toured WP and took photographs, also believe that a vast underground system exists at WP. It is divided into areas of A, B, C, and the supposed “Roswell Hanger” was a “group” of hangers near the runway in Area B and would actually be Building 4-B, and the “Roswell debris” would have been unloaded in the second B-hanger.

.

ENTITIES AT WP

.

If the speculations of the researchers are true, Roswell debris was taken to WF (later, WP) to what is now called WP Area B, and also contains the Avionics Laboratory Building which is presently called the Aero Propulsion Laboratory in Area B. It was sometimes called Building 18-D, the Power Plant Laboratory Complex (p. 23).

Alleged alien bodies are related to Building 18 and 23. Collins described it as Hanger 23, and sits between buildings 18F and 18A. Collins believed the debris was beneath Hanger 23 and the basement of building 18A connected to the basement of Hanger 23.

Building 23 was also called the Static Test Laboratory No. 1, built in 1934 “to house structural tests for aircraft carriers and parts,”  a 52,000-square-foot “new state-of-the art Advanced Power-Research Lab,” possibly containing cold storage areas.

Collins told Scott that Building 739, west of Building 620, had a vault connecting Buildings 620 and 739. Collins also said that Building 30, built in 1942 as the Technical Data Annex No. 1, was also called WP Area B, Building 30, and Audio-visual Laboratory. Collins also said that Building 450, the Flight Dynamics Laboratory, had a second basement going in the direction of Building 30, close to medical Building 29, which also has a small vault.

.

THE INFAMOUS “BLUE ROOM”

.

Irena Scott, Tom Carey and Donald Schmitt, as well as many other researchers, have spoken of the legendary “Blue Room” that “Senators, presidential candidates and many others have been turned away from.”  Scott claims to have been there in a UFO meeting (p. 30).  It is described as the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) in Area A, and home of the old ATIC and Blue Book (BB), or Building 856.

.

“It is unknown what the many monitors on the posts surrounding the building are for,” says Scott, “because most top cameras also monitored the area. Possibly they are also motion/infra-red statistics or some kind of very sensitive equipment.”

Scott and others have speculated that vaults exist beneath Building 856, large and deep, with a nearby mound facility, all with their own security system, laboratories and auditoriums. According to ufologists Carey and Schmitt, fellow researcher Leonard Stringfield “came away convinced that UFO artifacts as well as alien bodies were being stored in the FTD building.”

.

Exploring Sacred exopolZZZZZZZI_12

.

Stringfield was allegedly told by an informant that visitors to this “inner sanctum” were usually blind folded and then allowed to see a converted blue hanger with a secured room and large aquariums containing small, grey bodies with no hair and over-sized craniums (p. 31).

.

Exploring Sacred Seige 9780449236543-uk-300

.

WP Building 856 was built in the 1970s and was called the Foreign Technology Division (FTD), which became the Foreign Aerospace and Technology Center (FASTC) in 1992, and then the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) in 2003. Researcher Jennie Zeidman said that BB was centered in 263, not Hanger 18.

.

HIDEOUTS AT WRIGHT-PATTERSON

.

John G. Tiffany, according to ufologists Kevin Randle, Irena Scott, and Donald Schmitt, was a man dispatched from Wright Field (WF) to “retrieve the Roswell materials and possibly the space alien bodies at Fort Worth…(the son said) his father picked up metallic debris and a large cylinder that reminded his father of a huge thermos bottle.” (p. 33)

The late Brigadier General Arthur Exon was a Lieutenant Colonel stationed at WF at the time of the Roswell crash in 1947 and had flown over the area of the crash, observing ‘two distinct cash sites and gouges in the ‘pivotal areas.’”

Exon also referred to a “UFO controlling committee” consisting of “high-ranking military officers and intelligence people” named as “the unholy thirteen.”

Scott eludes that this may have lent to the legend of MJ-12 which has been highly fictionalized, though there does appear to be some basis in fact in light of the above comments. Quoting excerpts from the book FORDIDDEN SCIENCE (p. 304), and the McDonnell-Douglas Company, as well as the Astropower Company, the book speaks about clandestine UFO projects. “This indicates that a secret UFO study had continued in Washington,” says Scott (https://epdf.tips/forbidden-science-journals-1957-1969.html).

Scott mentions Carey and Schmitt and their belief about “large portions” of WPAFB having underground bunkers and tunnels, manmade hills in Area B. “They were told that the Propulsion Research and Development Building had a walkway/ramp that lead to an underground door, and also heard about underground refrigerated rooms,” says Scott.

Battelle, the world’s largest non-profit independent research and development organization, probably was sent some of the Roswell debris for analysis. “Battelle co-managed many atomic age’s top national laboratories on behalf of the U.S Department of Energy, including the Lawrence Livermore, Oak Ridge, and Brookhaven National laboratories.” (p. 37)

.
REVERSE-ENGINEERING SCIENTISTS
.

Irena Scott highlights and examines a “Pentacle Memorandum” which lent to exposing BB’s secret study SR-14 and other secret aspects.  The Pentacle Memo, January 9, 1953, had a list of  “distributees,” one was the Director of Battelle, Howard Cross, who also was also head of Project Stork, under which SR-14 was conducted. The Memo recommended larger study areas, cameras, and possible jet scrambles.

.

Treacherous Walk PENTACLE pent_memo

.

It was also discovered that Cross was instrumental in Battelle participating in governmental UFO metallurgical studies, probably retrieved UFO debris. Cross probably also worked on the “missing, mystery Project Blue Book Report No. 13.” (p. 51)

The Pentacle Memo listed “predominately metallurgists or physical scientists” Bertrum Thomas, I.R. Jackson, William Reid, Perry Rieppal, V. W. Ellsey, R. J. Lund,  and Art Westerman (p. 32).

“It is strange that scientists, who appeared to have been predominantly metallurgists (rather than statisticians or others involved with information processing),” says Scott, “were selected for the information statistical work that led to SR-14, Similarly designing a questionnaire would seem to be out of the field of expertise for these energies. This suggests that the metallurgists’ analysis of artifacts may have been a component of UFO research conducted at Battelle.” (p. 55)

The researchers Anthony Bragalia, Thomas Carey, Donald Schmitt, Bill Jones, and Irena Scott believed that scientist Elroy John Canter was involved in a study of “parts” of a “flying saucer”; a forge in New Mexico couldn’t break or melt it at one of the hottest furnaces in the world (p. 97).

Cathy Center, the daughter of Elroy Center, had dated a Battelle employee in 1958 who had told Cathy about mystery metal and I-beam parts from the 1947 Roswell crash (p. 98).  Scott and Bill Jones believe this to be “Nick” Nicholson who was an employee at Battelle.

Scott mentions L.W. Eastwood, Howard Cross, Arthur Westerman, and Gustavus Simpson, which had knowledge of metallurgical studies of possible alien artifacts. There were a number of persons and scientists that appeared to be connected with Battelle as well as the Rand Corporation on the UFO question: Major General Curtis E. Lemay, James Bryant Conant, Donald Douglas (Douglas Aircraft Company), Linus Pauling, Vannevar Bush, Clyde Williams, Jennie Zeidman, John Morehead, Robert Livingston, Vernon W, Ellsey, A.C. Eckert, Kevin Meggs, P.J. Rieppal, Connie Voldrich, Bob Jaffee, Horace Grover, Nelson Crites, Fred Baby, Loyd Jackson, Paul Frost, Art Elsea, Bill Sherenbig, Art Schwope, Frank Holden, Walter Boyd, Robert Jaffee, M.W. Mallett, R.W. Dayton, G.T. Muchlenkamp, H.A. Saller, Russell Ogden, Don Maykuth, and several others.

Hands-on studies of the debris led to a human-manufactured substance called nitinol, a “memory metal” of nickel and titanium that superficially resembled the characteristics of the Roswell debris, but in no way duplicated its more supernatural or bizarre aspects.

ARTIFACTS AT VANADIUM

.

Not long after the Roswell event, strange materials were shipped to the Vanadium Corporation of America (now called Shield Alloy of Cambridge, Ohio, which also has a connection to the United States Steel Corporation). Ufologists determined it was metal from a crash-site “gouge landing” speculated to be some of the Roswell material. Another fragment scenario about the summer of 1947 occurred at Timken Roller Bearing Company of Canton, Ohio when three flatbed trucks arrived with strange structures that the, then, new Timken furnace was going to be used to melt down the material. Several men claimed to be FBI agents took control of the situation. The materials could not be melted.

Eventually, rumors emerged, says Scott and Jones, connecting the North American Aviation Company in Columbus, Ohio and another involving the Monsanto Research Corporation near Dayton, Ohio with WP and ‘reverse-engineering studies of gravity waves.” (p. 186)

.

SPECIAL REPORT-14, BATTELLE, AND THE ROBERTSON PANEL

.

Special Report 14 (SR-14) was created in 1953 but first published on May 5, 1955, composed by a “Committee of 12” of engineers and scientists, and a final draft by Vernon Ellsey and reviewed by Howard Cross, all part of Project Stork. “The project planned would entail much higher security clearances than BB personnel had,” says Scott, “…the best done of all UFO studies and it produced very strong and powerful positive results…I appreciate the meaning of the statistics that were used in SR-14. It would make one’s hair stand on end.” (p. 82)

Scientist Walter Webb found the report very “highly scientific and statistical.”  Scott says: “…it is filled with graphs, tables, charts…one has to carefully read the few instructions and then figure out that significant results existed…complex, mathematical nature.”

One of the statistical tests in the study is Chia Square: “Show that the actual probability against the idea that UFOs are prosaic objects might be one of one trillion or even less…it very, very strongly shows that UFOs are no prosaic phenomena.” (p. 85)

Scott continues: “However less than one chance out of a billion is what SR-14 gave as against the possibility that good UFO sightings represent conventional objects…a very well done, credible study, very strongly showed that UFO phenomena exist.” (p. 63)

.

THE DARK SIDE TAKES CONTROL

.

The early days of BB, Project Stark, Project Saucer, and Project Sign had several very positive people involved that appeared to want to investigate the UFO phenomena: Major Dewey Fournet, Edward J. Ruppelt, James E. MacDonald, the Pentacle Memo, and the 1948 “Estimate of the Situation” — that all ended with the CIA-controlled Robertson Panel.

Clearly the CIA and the alleged “Silence Group” became outwardly as one of derision and contempt, while clandestine agencies continued separate and secret investigations.

“Having worked for the government,” says Scott, “I have noticed that this is a normal way to hide something. Put someone who knows nothing about it in charge, or convene a panel of big wigs that do not understand anything about the subject they are addressing. This is how the government can bring about the results they want and convince the public of things that are wrong.” (p. 69)

.

MULTIPLE PHOTOS AND DIARY NOTES

.

Scott shares many photographs that she took at WPAFB and other suspicious sites, as well as diary notes and letters written by the late J. Allen Hynek and his sojourn into UFOs over the years. Truly, Scott believes that Hynek was also shuffled about by the higher-ups and prevented from the best UFO reports and incidents, or led in directions that frustrated good investigation—as were many others. The book is a cavalcade of little known and even shocking events and some of the better cases in UFO history.

“Based on our experience so far, it is expected that certain conclusions will be reached as a result of our analysis which will make obvious the need for an effort to obtain reliable data from competent observers using the [unclear] necessary equipment. Until more reliable data are available, no positive answers to the problem will be possible.” (The Pentacle Memo, H.C. Cross, January 9, 1953)
